Needs From: ChaffeeVOLUNTEERS

Volunteer: PIT Count Supporter

The Chaffee Housing Authority has limited staff capacity to support this year’s Point-in-Time (PIT) Count and is seeking volunteer and agency assistance.

Why This Matters:

The PIT determines federal funding allocations, provides an important baseline for evaluation and shows trends. In 2026, as federal policy changes, having an accurate count will help Chaffee County be able to assess impacts (positive/negative) of those changes and to adapt to local needs based on more accurate information.

Support is needed in the following ways:

-Volunteers to join teams visiting known unsheltered locations on the night of January 27 to help administer surveys.

-Help distributing flyers to inform unsheltered and unhoused individuals that the PIT Count will take place January 26–February 3.

-Organizations serving people experiencing homelessness (such as food banks, health centers, school districts, service providers, hospitals, and others) to help administer surveys between January 28–February 3.

-Shelter providers to count individuals and families sheltered on the night of January 26.

Training is required for all PIT volunteers. Sign up TODAY. To sign up for training fill out this very short form: Volunteer Sign-Up Form

Once signed up you will receive an invite. If you don’t see either training on your calendar, please contact dola_bos_coc@state.co.us.  A recording will be provided if you cannot make the specific time, but you have to sign up.
