Do you have experience in nonprofit leadership, finance, fundraising, communications, or community development — and a passion for helping others grow? The CCCF Consulting Corps is a new volunteer initiative launching in 2026, designed to connect skilled professionals with local nonprofits seeking guidance, mentorship, and peer support.

Members of the Consulting Corps will serve as volunteer “consultants,” sharing their expertise to strengthen nonprofit capacity across Chaffee County. Whether it’s helping a small nonprofit improve its grant strategy, refine operations, or develop a board, your experience can make a lasting difference.

This is a “matchmaking” opportunity — CCCF will pair volunteers with organizations whose needs align with your background and interests.

While we’re still developing the program structure, we’re currently seeking expressions of interest from community members who may want to participate. An application and interview process will open in 2026 to ensure the right fit and commitment for each consulting role.

If you have a heart for service and a head for strategy, this is your chance to help build stronger nonprofits — and a stronger Chaffee County.

Event Overview: Back by popular demand! The Chaffee County Community Foundation (CCCF) is teaming up with KHEN 106.9 FM for our annual ChaffeeGIVES Day “KHEN Takeover.”

From 8 AM to 3 PM on December 9th, CCCF will highlight local nonprofits and their ChaffeeGIVES campaigns through live radio and Facebook Live segments every 15 minutes.

We need friendly, reliable volunteers to help the event run smoothly throughout the day!

Join the holiday fun and support a great cause!

Volunteers are needed for the Christmas Mountain Run in downtown Salida, with proceeds benefiting the Emergency Response Fund at the Chaffee County Community Foundation (CCCF).

This annual community event combines festive cheer with local impact — and it couldn’t happen without volunteer support!

Course Marshals - Time: 9:45 a.m. – 11:45 a.m.

Help keep runners safe by directing participants along the 5-mile race course and assisting with vehicle crossings. Positions last 1–2 hours and are stationed within 2.5 miles of downtown Salida. All locations are easily accessible by car.  

Race Day Registration & Packet Pickup - Time: 7:45 a.m. – 10:00 a.m.

Welcome runners, assist with registration, and distribute race packets and t-shirts before the run begins.

Finish Line Helpers - Time: 10:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

Help celebrate the finishers! Volunteers will hand out participant ribbons and assist at the post-race snack table.

Join CCCF and the Foodshed Alliance in supporting food access for our neighbors this winter! Volunteers are needed to help organize and pack SNAP produce boxes and food donations during the Winter Farmers Market, starting November 15 and running through December 20. Your time and helping hands will ensure that healthy, local food reaches community members who need it most

Volunteers will assist with:

Gathering and organizing donated food items

Packing produce boxes for distribution to local food access points

Helping with setup, storage, and coordination during market days

We’ll provide clear instructions and support on-site. A few hours of your time makes a real difference in helping local families stay nourished through the colder months.

Last year, the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program helped 210 local residents file their taxes, returning $410,736 in refunds to community members and boosting the local economy. The program is fiscally sponsored by the Chaffee County Community Foundation (CCCF), and we’re now seeking the next Volunteer Site Coordinator to lead this vital work.

The Site Coordinator oversees the program by:

-Recruiting, training, and supporting volunteers Coordinating weekly tax appointments (January–April)

-Managing scheduling, space, and equipment needs

-Ensuring accurate electronic filing and recordkeeping

-Keeping volunteers informed and recognized

What we’re looking for:

-Strong organizational and communication skills

-Comfort working with people from diverse backgrounds

-Problem-solving skills and attention to detail

-Prior tax prep experience helpful, but not required—IRS training is provided

CCCF hosts a number of grant processes throughout the year. The review committee consists of volunteers representing different geographic areas include Salida, Buena Vista, Chaffee, Lake, Fremont & Custer Counties. 

Grant reviewers commit up to 30 hours over a two month period to read, score, discuss and decide the grant award recommendations. Ideal candidates have a good wifi connection, can navigate an online grant portal, acknowledge and manage any personal bias, and participate in respectful, candid discussions. 

Please submit your interest in serving on a grant review committee and a staff person will follow up with an interview. 

The Chaffee County Community Foundation (CCCF) currently has one board seat open.

We are searching for caring, thoughtful, and dedicated individuals who care about making Chaffee County a better place. A successful candidate will bring their life experience, expertise, and networks to their board service and will act not only as a fiduciary, but as an ambassador, for CCCF.

Board service, depending on committee appointments, typically requires between 3 and 5 hours of time each month between meetings and preparation.
